The Matt Kizer Band blends the sweet simplicity of an “unplugged” sound with an upbeat and soulful vibe. They are at home playing an eclectic collection of tunes that span genres and decades.
The band is lead by vocalist and baritone ukulele player, Matt Kizer. Kizer is a veteran of professional musical theater and has trained his resonant baritone voice in styles that range from opera to rock.
Anchoring the beat, is master conga player Robert Rangel, who is recognized for his ability to transcend barriers between salsa, jazz, R&B, and rock. Rangel has performed with such artists as John Santos, Jesus Diaz, Orestes Vilato, Pete Escovedo, Los Lobos, and Los Otros, to name a few. Rangel also plays with Nothern California’s most in-demand cover band, Pop Fiction, and the new yacht rock sensation, Mustache Harbor, as well as his father’s ten-piece Salsa band, Orquesta America.
Funking things up on guitar is the ever-versatile Eileen Grady. Grady has played guitar, banjo, and drums with various bands, including Los Santos (blues & salsa), The Gina Cantina Band (country, rock, and alternative) and performed her original music with her band, Cool Violet. She has directed operas, musicals, and is, by day, a theater producer for the the Mountain Play in Marin County.
